Meeting in Santa Rosa, California, Do Tell Story Swap is a monthly gathering for teens and adults where all are welcome to share stories by telling and listening. No judges, no competition, no worries… just inclusive, entertaining fun!
In 2010, Kenneth and Patricia Foster opened the Foster Storytelling Studio in Santa Rosa. Every month for 4 years, they converted their garage into a cozy, clean space for the Do Tell Story Swap. Along with the leadership of Elaine Stanley, the Swap has brought together librarians, teachers, engineers, creative and free spirits for stories about myth, fantasy, love and loss. Personal stories of family, childhood, elder wisdom and humor are also a big part of the Swap stories.
In December 2014, Kenneth and Patricia moved to Washington State. Our meeting place at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Santa Rosa is a welcoming setting and the Swap is growing! Elaine Stanley continues to host the Swaps and Katy Mangan brings the details together every month, emailing interested tellers and listeners about coming storytelling events.
The Swap maintains an atmosphere of acceptance and encouragement to all storytellers. Some members are professional and offer performances for various events. Connections with other Bay Area storytellers widen our opportunities to hear great storytellers at our Swap.
Do Tell Story Swap’s leadership in North Bay storytelling has brought annual performances of TELLABRATION!™, a worldwide storytelling community event typically held on the third Saturday of November.
With the help of an enthusiastic group of supporters, including The Glaser Center in Santa Rosa, Do Tell members find topnotch storytellers for this lively event. The Storytelling Association of California (SAC) is our generous sponsor for TELLABRATION!™
